SUMMARY:ICE Response Basics - Virtual Training - We Keep Us Safe
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this training is to teach what our legal rights are during interactions with law enforcement\, how to ID ICE\, and how to respond when you see an ICE raid happening. Our goals are to support our community members who are being targeted\, document\, and reduce detentions. These steps are based off historical successes\, tactics currently being used in targeted cities\, and actions our local immigration organizations are taking. Every community is different so these steps and procedures can vary according to where you are and how much support you have on scene. \nYou can RSVP on our encrypted form here so we can send you the link to the training and a follow up email with materials from the training. You can also click the zoom link provided in the details section at 6:30pm on March 19th! We understand that people are hesitant to share their personal information so we do not require registration to attend. You are not required to be logged into an email address to attend the training. \nThis training is virtual only and presented by We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE. We Keep Us Safe is a grassroots initiative to help the metro Denver area organize proactively and effectively to protect our community members from being inhumanely kidnapped by ICE. We are developing a hub of resources and best practices targeted towards the Denver area\, but many of the resources are statewide. This can be found on our website wkus-co.org! We are educating and activating community members through canvassing\, training\, and outreach. Our goal is to support interested volunteers across the Denver area in building community and solidarity–and to support volunteers in effectively self-organizing in the face of state violence.

SUMMARY:Community Defense Groups and Patrols - Virtual Training - We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE
DESCRIPTION:This training will cover the basics of how to get started organizing a community defense group and patrols to protect our neighbors that are being targeted by this fascist regime. There are many roles behind the scenes and a lot of footwork involved\, especially for those of us not currently connected within our community. Having strong community connections and support is essential for all of us to endure and prevail against authoritarianism! Every community is different\, but this training will give you basic guidelines to follow and safety tips. We will cover the early steps\, how to structure a rapid response team in the event of an ICE encounter\, and some other ways to help outside of patrols. This training will be useful even if you have already started organizing! \nThis training will be entirely virtual and open to the public. You can RSVP on our encrypted form here with your email address so we can send you the link to the training and have an idea of the number of attendees. You can also just click the zoom link provided in the details section below when the training starts! We understand that many of us are hesitant to share personal information with strangers\, and we don’t require registration for attendance. We now use webinars on zoom so you do not have to log in with your email address! \nThis training is presented by We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE. In addition to covering the basics of ICE Watch\, we will discuss new analysis on ICE operations\, rapid response tactics\, and safety guidance. \n  \nSTAC is a partner that fills in resource gaps for community leaders and organizers across the country who are facing everything from white nationalist rallies to school board takeovers to political violence.

SUMMARY:Community Defense Groups - Virtual Training - We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE
We will cover the early steps and how to structure a rapid response team in the event of an ICE encounter. This training will be useful even if you have already started organizing! \nThis training will be entirely virtual and open to the public. You can RSVP on our encrypted form here so we can send you the link to the training and the written materials or click the zoom link provided in the details section at 2pm on January 25th! We understand that many of us are hesitant to share personal information with strangers\, and we don’t require registration for attendance. \nThis training is presented by We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE. We Keep Us Safe is a grassroots initiative to help the metro Denver area organize proactively and effectively to protect our community members from being illegally and inhumanely kidnapped by ICE. We are developing a hub of resources and best practices targeted towards the Denver area\, but many of the resources are statewide. We are educating and activating community members through canvassing\, training\, and outreach. Our goal is to support interested volunteers across the Metro Denver area in building community and solidarity–and to support volunteers in effectively self-organizing in the face of state violence.

SUMMARY:Be Prepared for ICE! - Virtual Training - We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this training is to teach what our legal rights are during interactions with law enforcement\, how to ID ICE\, and how to respond when you see an ICE raid happening. Our goals are to document\, support our community members who are being targeted\, and de-escalate as much as we can to reduce potential violence from officers. These steps are based off historical successes\, tactics currently being used in cities like LA and Chicago\, and actions our local immigration organizations are taking. Every community is different so these steps and procedures can vary according to where you are and how much support you have on scene. This training was previously called Community Response to ICE. \nYou can RSVP on our encrypted form here so we can send you the link to the training and the written materials or click the zoom link provided in the details section at 6pm on January 24th! \nThis training is virtual only and presented by We Keep Us Safe: El Pueblo Unido Contra ICE. SUMMARY:Organizing works: Celebrating our Avelo wins & planning what next - Siembra NC's Defend and Recruit - Virtual
DESCRIPTION:Organizing works: celebrating our Avelo wins and planning what next – hosted by Siembra NC’s Defend and Recruit \nOn January 7th\, we won and loss. \nThanks to the work of tireless organizing around the country – actions\, boycotts\, local resolutions\, and so much more – we have WON. Avelo has announced they will be stopping their work with ICE. \nBut on the same day\, ICE murdered a civilian in Minnesota.  a mother who was lawfully observing the agents\, a constitutionally protected act of community defense. \nWhen we take a step forward\, it can feel like we’re continuously being pulled backward. ICE’s actions and intensity are growing\, and so must our movement. \nAnd as we watch ICE break national laws and constitutional rights\, and witness Trump’s brazen disregard for international law by kidnapping a head of State and threatening others\, we are grounded in our reality: WE are the ones who must hold ICE\, any corporation complicit in their horrific regime\, and our political representatives accountable. We must continue to protect us\, and we must continue to take action together. \nOn Thursday\, January 15th\, join our call at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT to talk about what we did\, and what we’ll do next to take on Avelo and build immigration defense strategies\, groups\, and power in our communities. \nOur organizing is more important than ever. \n  \nThis event is entirely virtual and requires registration to attend. SUMMARY:Event Safety 101 - Indivisible
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an introductory Indivisible event safety training that covers how to help keep yourself and others safe at protests\, rallies\, and other Indivisible actions. Indivisibles are increasingly hosting more and greater diversity of events: rallies\, marches\, and other visibility actions. We need organizers\, leaders\, and safety staff for these actions\, creating the need to onboard and train more volunteers so we can magnify our impact. \nThis training is intended to build awareness of safety roles among our volunteer base\, equip volunteers to feel more confident apprenticing at events and taking on safety roles\, and provide a refresher to existing safety personnel of some of the guidance you may have seen before. \nThis 101 training repeats. It is the same training each time. We’ll cover topics like event hosting\, safety marshal work\, and de-escalation tactics.
